Asking why women get attracted to wealth is equivalent to asking : why do men like to show off their wealth?
The answer is same, money or wealth is a sign of cunning, shrewdness, stability, astuteness, ambition and hard work.
The ability to earn money is a valued asset in every corner of the world.
Wealth wields respect, power, command, and dominance.
Why wouldn't women be attracted to it?
If you argument is, why don't they become wealthy if they like it so much?
Well, then choose your partner on the basis of resourcefulness, and not beauty, there are plenty of self made wealthy women.
And let's take their example, successful women choose their partners on the basis of achievements, seriousness toward ambitions, and wealth, their focus is finding an equally or more resorceful partner.
Because money is not just dollar bills, it's a symbol of competency.
The reason why this is a huge complaint from men is because our only standards in falling in love are beauty.

When you are in luxurious hotel, you do covet that lifestyle in those moments.
The reason why you feel bad or guilty about thinking it is because philosophically we have accepted materialism as something shallow, bad, unnecessary and stupid.
So in order to appear mature infront of others and to yourself, you convince yourself it is beneath you, and not something that impresse you.
The simple distinction you have to make is, you can be mature and materialistic at the same time.
To say maturity means ostracising wealth is actually more stupid because that's a blanket statement.
Money plays a major role in life, so your so called nice girls, smart women, successful women, every one of them will be affected by your net worth - either consciously or subconsciously.
Now you could be angry because you don't have money right now, and women around you choose guys with money.
Like people, money too has types : it could be inherited wealth, earned wealth, accidentally acquired wealth.
If you are young and still working hard, you are working toward earned wealth.
So it's not like you are incompetent or valueless.
Those women going for guys with inherited wealth are not for you.
See, human attraction toward wealth and luxury is always there.
